Once a bevy of children was reserved only for kings and chieftains. As a sign of their prestige. Today a tourist guide from a neat suburb in Maastricht can father 100 children, thanks to emancipation and the Internet.

With Ed we encounter a world that might appear as somewhat artificial, a doable reality where is spoken in a clinical and controlled way about ‘wish parent’, ‘moments of ovulation, ‘sperm results’, ‘insemination attempts’ and successful pregnancies. You would almost forget that meanwhile out of this abstract world 100 real children were born.

Why would a man wish to conceive 100 children ? Social conventions put Ed and the wish mothers to the test every day again. The – sometimes absurd-‘microcosm’ we call Ed’s world, eventually shows more of the ‘macrocosm’ we live in: our time, our morals, our society – that can produce a super donor like Ed.
