Why is Facebook so addictive? Who are the engineers behind Facebook’s design? Is making people dependent on your product actually ethical? And can that mess with your head, and more importantly, the heads of future generations?

Among other things, Tim has coffee in San Francisco with Aza Raskin, together with Tristan Harris, co-founder of the Center for Humane Technology, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a humane future where technology is in harmony with our well-being, our social values and our democratic principles. Aza now has major reservations regarding technology that he once developed himself. Namely, he is the designer of the “endless scroll.”

On the other side of the spectrum, there’s Nir Eyal, author of the bestseller Hooked: How to Build Habit-Forming Products (2015). We meet the guru of habit-forming technologies in Amsterdam. According to Eyal, ‘becoming indistractable’ will be the skill of the century.

Last but not least, we’ve got Jaron Lanier: virtual reality pioneer, tech philosopher and author of the book Ten Arguments for Deleting your Social Media Accounts Right Now (2018).
