Glass Kisses
Denise (32) is married to Michael (28), an American who is sentenced to death.
Since 1996 Michael has been on “death row” because of a double murder he committed in 1995. In 1997 Denise and Michael got to know each other by mail and after a year they married. Denise is the only woman in the Netherlands who is married to a “death row” prisoner.
This documentary shows why Denise chose to marry Michael and we see the consequences of this choice in her daily life. Denise tries to find a balance between her life in the Netherlands and in the United States. She is allowed to see Michael only 24 hours per year, on several visits. Denise knows she will never be able to touch Michael and that they will never grow old together. The Christian faith plays an important part in her life and in their marriage.
While comforting Michael´s family, Denise tries to come to terms with Michael's brutal act. Supported by her mother and sister, she finally decides to go and find the relatives of the victims to ask forgiveness on behalf of Michael. It will turn out to be a short and violent confrontation.
