They are called PUA’s. Pick Up Artists. The Casanova’s of the disco, guys who effortlessly wind the cutest girls around their fingers, night after night, day after day. Meanwhile, thousands of young men worldwide wonder how they do this. Why don’t the PUA’s start to blush and sweat like they do, and why do they always know the right thing to say?

This documentary tells the life story of Richard la Ruina and follows his bootcamp teachings through the eyes of two of his breathless, initially shy and inexperienced pupils. During the day, the students get theory lessons, fashion advice and training in all aspects of seduction. In the evening they have to put this knowledge into practice in London’s party scene, under close scrutiny of Richard la Ruina and his assistants. Will they succeed in changing their outer and inner appearance and will they build up confidence in such a way that they can smoothly and convincingly approach any girl they like? “They for sure will”, assures Richard la Ruina.

But The Fine art of Seduction also looks at the other side of the coin: Why are young men so shy and insecure these days? Has the internet created an abyss between them and the real world? Have women become so self assured that they chase away men? And what if every seduction attempt, even by the biggest nerd, succeeds? What does this do to feelings of romance and longing? And is the capacity to seduce lots of women a guarantee to maintain a long lasting relationship? Can they commit?
